ABOUT ME:To follow is an overview of my educational and professional background, which situates me in interdisciplinary work and diverse work settings.

My educational and professional background prepared me for holistic and systemic approaches to counseling and teaching.  The total person (mind/body/spirit) is placed in two significant contexts, which influence and inform our conscious and subconscious thoughts, feelings, and behavior: 1) our family-of-origin and the“family/families” we create as adults, and 2) our culture, which includes past and present social and economic realities.

My professional experiences include counseling individuals, couples, children and families at the Loma Linda University Behavioral Health Institute (LLU BHI), CARE Counselors, Department of Mental Health agencies and various community centers. In addition to counseling at the LLU BHI, I also served as the Clinical Training Coordinator there, designing, delivering, monitoring, and implementing strength-based  programs for youth, parents, adults, and administrative staff.  Upon leaving LLU, I worked in academic/clinical administration at  Phillips Graduate Institute.  I monitored and evaluated contracts, oversaw group counseling, worked with graduate students in their off-site clinical placements, and facilitated groups for men and women court-ordered for domestic violence intervention.  Currently, I find great meaning devoting my energies to clinical work with individuals, couples and families in the Pasadena and Los Angeles area (LMFT # 92605).

In addition to clinical work, I have taught at the college level. My professional teaching experiences include lecturerships at Cal Poly Pomona (Dept. of History), teaching assistantships at University of CA, Riverside (Dept. of Religious Studies), and Loma Linda University (Dept. of Counseling and Family Science).

My areas of research include emotional intimacy in couples; and, the professional practices of couple and family practitioners in relation to family diversity and worldviews.

My educational background is as follows:
Ph.D., Family Studies, Loma Linda University (Graduated March 2013)
M,A., Psychology, Chapman University (Graduated June 2009)
